    Information

Receive Credit for Lost EBT Food

If you currently receive CalFresh benefits and lost food that was purchased using EBT due to electrical outages, fire or needing to evacuate you could get credit back on your EBT card.

Claims usually have to be completed within 10-days of food loss. Due to the fires the deadline has been extended to February 5, 2025. You should process your claim as quickly as possible to avoid delays due to the volume of requests DPSS will receive. Click the Read More to find out more details about how to file a claim.

    Purchase Hot Foods with EBT

In response to the Palisades, Eaton, and Hurst Fires, SNAP recipients in Kern, Ventura, Orange, San Bernardino, and Los Angeles counties can temporarily use SNAP benefits to purchase hot foods - available until Feb. 8, 2025.

    Go Fund Me Lists

GoFundMe List for Displaced Black Families in Altadena

As California's first middle-class Black community, Altadena thrived as a rare refuge exempt from redlining, offering Black families the chance to acquire land, build homes, and create generational wealth amid systemic oppression. Please help these families as they deal with this unimaginable tragedy.

Rafa, AFM Manager, and Son Disaster Relief

On January 8th, 2025, Rafa Gass lost her family home in Altadena to the Eaton Fire. She evacuated safely with her 13-year-old son, their 3 cats, and 2 dogs, but they lost everything. A single mom with no home, no insurance, and no nearby family, Rafa and her son are grateful to be alive but need a lot of help getting back on their feet. If you are able, any amount helps.

Help AJ Peck Company - AFM Vendor

Alan and Jamelle Peck make the amazing cookies and jams/preserves you've seen on the AFM site. They been a part of the Altadena community for 30 years. This fire has left them with 1 car, 2 outfits apiece, some medical supplies, and their 2 cats. My parents are used to being a pillar to the community, but now it is time that they call the community in to help them start over from scratch.
